Karen Wiseman

I have a strong background in the arts completing a Degree in Visual Arts in 2009 with Latrobe University Mildura campus in 2009. I instigated and coordinated a community arts project in Wentworth N.S.W involving local Government, Community groups, Madec, Tafe,Private business and RADO NSW. in developing a community cultural Visual Arts Program. I have studied Aboriginal and Torres Strait Contemporary Art.

I have collaberated with Torres Strait Elder artist's with the aim of producing a contemporary work to hang in the Gub Tui Cultural Art Centre, this piece, titled 'Community' consists of individual collages made by the Elders and then stiched together as a metaphor for community. 

First female Fishing Guide in my own business in Australia. Succesfully pioneered niche tourism market in the Grampians. Pioneered kids activity pages in top fishing magazines, had all articles I wrote on fishing the Grampians published in leading fishing mags. First female to report live weekly on 3 top fishing radio programs.

Studied and completed a Diploma in Visual Arts which pathwayed me into a Degree which I successfully completed. United a community in a common goal to enhance the indigenous artist's profile within the Wentworth Shire to produce positive out-comes for the Aboriginal Artists.

Uniting the Torres Strait elders to produce art that represented thier community.
